These individuals – victims and perpetrators – represent 12 different tribes sharing a violent past which hangs between them as they live side by side in upstate New York. This community is unique among US-based Congolese refugee communities in its efforts to move past ethnic violence and seek reconciliation and understanding in their new lives in Syracuse. In addition to performances, we are excited to announce this free Cry for Peace festival event in collaboration with Congo in Harlem week: Saturday, October 20, 2012 at 4:30pm-6pm A discussion of Cry for Peace: Voices from the Congo and the current situation in the Congo with Ping Chong (Writer and Director), Kyle Bass (Writer), Cyprien Mihigo (Cast Member), Kambale Musavuli (National Spokesperson for the Friends of the Congo), and moderated by Carole Brzozowski (Syracuse University Arts Engage).
