Welcome! Trans Europe Halles (TEH) is a European Network of Independent Cultural Centres that connects pioneering cultural actors of Moscow, Budapest and Belgrade with creative forces in Amsterdam, Helsinki and Berlin – to mention a few. The network currently has 49 members and 7 Friend organisations in 26 European countries.
Founded in 1983, the network now brings together about fifty multidisciplinary and socially engaged member centres throughout Europe. Most centres are located in buildings from industrial heritage and have taken important action in challenging the established cultural policy.
Member of the Month: ufaFabrik (Berlin, Germany)
In June ufaFabrik celebrates its 30th anniversary. We had a talk with Sigrid Niemer, Director of Communication at ufaFabrik, who answers our questions about the only Trans Europe Halles member with its own built-in bakery.
"30 years ago, people thought we were crazy with our organic bread and our solar panels. We were pioneers in many ways." Read more…
Trans Europe Halles wishes ufaFabrik happy celebrations!

THE LIFT HANDBOOK – Sharing Experiences of a youth exchange network project
Within the network project The Lift (2006-2008), young people who are active at different Trans Europe Halles centres were given the chance to go abroad and work at another Trans Europe Halles centre through the mobility scheme European Voluntary Service (EVS). A large number of Trans Europe Halles centres were involved in The Lift and the experiences from the project have now resulted in a handbook about networking through EVS. The aim of the handbook is to offer a tool for other organisations that would like to start similar projects in the future.
Mission Statement "Trans Europe Halles is a network of independent cultural centres offering a dynamic forum for ideas, collaborations, and mutual support in the pursuit of intercultural exchange, understanding and artistic freedom".
CHANGING ROOM is one of the biggest projects ever organized by Trans Europe Halles. Twenty-five TEH members will participate.Read More
