Dear readers,
Welcome to TEH Newsletter #2 2012, featuring the latest news from Trans Europe Halles – a European Network of Independent Cultural Centres. The TEH Newsletter is produced by the TEH Coordination Office in Lund, Sweden.
February 28th, 2012 is an important day in the history of Trans Europe Halles. The network received a €59.000 Annual Operating Grant from the EC Culture Programme for 2012 (Culture Programme 2007–2013, Strand 2). We are delighted about the fact that this is the largest annual grant ever received by Trans Europe Halles from the European Commission, and that TEH scored 91 out of a possible 100 points. We are already planning our celebration party!
Otherwise, we are happy to welcome the arrival of the spring to the South of Sweden. A month ago, TEH Coordination Office also hosted a new intern, who is me, Ellen Eklund. My first weeks I have learned about the network, projects such as Engine Room Europe, European Voluntary Service, advocacy campaigns and the work in the TEH Office. Everyday I get inspired and impressed by all the project the network is realising and I am looking forward to get more actively involved. I am from Göteborg, Sweden where I am studying International Cultural Management. I will end my internship in May after TEH Meeting 73 at Tabačka Kulturfabrik in Košice, Slovakia. The meeting registration is now open and I hope to meet you in Košice!
I would like to end this introduction with a quote from Ghandi. “Be the change you would like to see in the world.”
Keep on reading to find out what else is happening in the network.
Best wishes,
Ellen Eklund, Intern and
