Theatre Action Events Across the World Tackle Climate Change

Members of Pomona College Theatre Department and Environmental Analysis will join artists across the world on Dec. 1 and 2 as part of a Theatre Action dedicated to Climate Change. A screening of adapted films from 5 minute plays will be held at Rose Hills Theater in Pomona College; the event begins at 8pm and is open to all students, staff, faculty and community members.
Climate Change Theatre Action is a joint initiative from NoPassport, The Arctic Cycle and Theatre Without Borders. Vison LA Fest is also a collaborating partner along with ARTCOP21 that launched ahead of the UN climate talks in Paris, aiming to challenge climate issues.
The event at Pomona College is part of a series of worldwide readings, film screenings and performances intended to bring awareness to, and foster discussion around climate change. Renowned writers Caridad Svich, Chantal Bilodeau and Elaine Avila have curated the plays, songs and poems by writers from all six livable continents. Over one hundred events will be held throughout the months of November and December 2015 in over 20 countries.
The Theatre Action Initiative was designed in support of the United Nations 2015 Paris Climate Conference (COP21) taking place November 30-December 11, 2015.
The event at Rose Hills Theatre will feature films conceived and directed by Angela Han (Pomona), Brooklyn Robinson (Scripps), Harrison Goodall (Pomona College), Trevor Roszkos (Pitzer) and Evan De Lorenzo (Pomona) starring students from the Claremont Colleges. The adapted films are from works by international playwrights E.M. Lewis, Deborah Aasimwe , Darrah Cloud, Mindi Dickstein, Jordan Hall and Giovanni Ortega.
