The call for Production Awards 2019 is now open!
Culture Resource is pleased to launch the open call for the 2019 round of the Production Awards program which supports artists and writers from the Arab region, below the age of 35, by offering grants to enable them to produce their first creative projects.
This round offers 20 grants of up to $10,000 for projects in literature, music, performing arts and visual arts and of up to $15,000 for projects in cinema and video.
The program helps give young artists the opportunity to create original works and develop new forms of artistic expression, and it has provided around 300 grants since it was first launched in 2004.
Applications are accepted until Friday 7 December 2018, 5:00 pm Beirut time.

Invitation to The European Balcony Project
You are invited to proclaim the European Republic symbolically on 10th of November 2018 at 4 p.m. on a (theatre) balcony, a town square or whatever public place you have access to wherever you might be on 10th of November!
The aim is to spark a broad debate about (European) democracy and what it means to be a citizen. Imagine it as a world-wide politico-artistic flashmob and discussion weekend on democracy! This is how the European slogan, “Unity in Diversity”, could become reality.
Among the supporters are Antonio Negri, Elfriede Jelinek, Navid Kermani, Lorenzo Marsili, Dubravka Ugrešić and many others. As the idea is to promote an event without nations or borders, we are now especially looking to establish cooperations with theatres and citizens in even more countries.
In order to put your company on map andparticipants list send your address/the address of the place where you want to proclaim the European Republic.

The STAGE Labis now accepting applications for its fall 2019 fellowships.
STAGE – Scientists, Technologists and Artists Generating Exploration – is a laboratory within the University of Chicago’s Institute for Molecular Engineering, in which we create and develop original multimedia theatre work inspired by science and technology.
For these fellowships, we’re ideally looking for people with hybrid interests and skills, especially scientists who have had some theatre experience, as well as theatre artists with an interest in science. The deadline for fall 2019 fellowships is January 21, 2019. First interviews are held on a rolling basis; as a general rule, therefore, applications should be submitted as early as possible.
We very much appreciate your forwarding this information to potential candidates. More details follow below.
With thanks and best wishes,
