The 13th New York Turkish Film Festival. May 2014

Looking for something entertaining, inspiring, culturally expanding and
thought-provoking? Here it is. The Moon and Stars Project, the cultural arm
of the American Turkish Society, is proud to announce the program for the
13th New York Turkish Film Festival. The program includes 11 films
including two short film composites, two inspiring documentaries and nine
remarkable feature-length films.

Opening night kicks off Friday, May 16 with the New York premiere of the
visually stunning Butterfly’s Dream (2013) directed by Yilmaz Erdoğan,
Turkey’s Oscar nominee for 2013. After the screening we will welcome Mert
Firat in person for a Q&A. On Saturday, May 17 tickets to either of the
screenings, Yozgat Blues or Ships, include admission to the New York
Turkish Film Festival Reception in the lobby of the SVA Theater from 7:00 –
8:30.

The festival will also feature two documentaries followed by panel
discussions. My Child by Can Candan who sensitively explores families with
LGBT children who are learning how to best support them and educate others
on gender issues and Girls of Hope by Ayşegül Selenga Taşkent, which
explores girls in rural Turkey who are trying to pursue their dream of a
high school education.
