Dear readers,
Welcome to TEH Newsletter #8 2011, featuring the latest news from Trans Europe Halles – a European Network of Independent Cultural Centres. The TEH Newsletter is produced by the TEH Coordination Office in Lund, Sweden.

New, fresh autumn winds blow through the TEH Coordination Office as two interns, myself, Edith Salminen from Finland and Plamena Slavcheva from Bulgaria joined the TEH team of creative minds at the end of August. Assisting and learning for a three month long internship, we will follow the network and the partners closely from the comforts of the Lund office, side by side with Birgitta Persson and Marian Söderholm. We are delighted to have got the opportunity and even more so, we are eager to learn and experience as much as possible.

After a rather hectic start with the new TEH Ex Comm meeting here in Lund, we have among other things observed the finalizing and submitting of various applications. Our respect goes to all of you filling out applications! One certainly needs bulletproof nerves and perfected concentration skills for such a endeavor. Now, as the 'sent' button has been clicked on and the applications are no longer making anyone/everyone lose sleep, our main focus for the time being is on the preparations for TEH Meeting 72 at TNT in Bordeaux, France. Putting the finishing touch on the program, the schedule and the activities turns out to be more challenging than it seemed.

The Bordeaux meeting couldn't have come at better time considering our learning process. Interesting and relevant tasks will lead us to the concrete final reward in a month or so. With these words we hope that all of you reading the TEH newsletter have an inspiring and activity-filled month!

Enjoy the read!

TEH gives a gold star to CCP Germany
Writing EU applications is as everyone knows quite an undertaking. Last week, the TEH Office submitted an application to the European Commission for Support for Organisations Active at European level in the field of culture. To our judgement, we managed to hand in a pretty strong and well-balanced piece of work that was the result of the commitment and support of seven TEH people from the Executive Committee, Office team and Engine Room Europe team. In addition to this, Mareike Rauchel and her collegues at the Cultural Contact Point in Bonn, Germany turned out to be the most fantastic, professional and fast institutional source of advice and support ever encountered by the TEH Office. Thank you!
