Latino International Theater Festival of New York, Inc.
November 2007
Greetings! ,
We are enjoying a busy and exciting fall, planning for the second annual TeatroStageFest, June 2-15, 2008. However, the big news this month is that we will be able to welcome lots more volunteers this year! TeatroStageFest has relocated to its new and permanent home at 142 East 27th Street right down the street from the award-winning company Repertorio Español. Come and visit us!
Last month, TeatroStageFest received the "Special Achievement Award" from the Hispanic Organization for Latino Actors ("HOLA") which recognized our organization "for its establishment and its mission in creating a global community of Latin theater." ¡Muchas gracias HOLA! We also curated the theater component of an evening with media partner V-me and with PBS, by presenting excerpts from the Broadway bound "In The Heights". The spirited performances by Lin Manuel Miranda and cast members gave everyone a sneak preview of this great show.
In our efforts to help bring awareness to the great Latino theater movement of New York, be sure to check out www.myspace.com/teatrostagefest with links to up-to-date notices of the many performances going on in town. Make us your MySpace or your Facebook friend.
In the same spirit, we are sponsoring the first TeatroStageFest free training workshop for emerging directors in partnership with Teatro SEA's Puerto Rico Fest, BORIMIX.
Finally, I'd like to welcome our new board members: Marta Tellado (Ford Foundation), Kimberly Conroy (Oppenheimer Capital), and Andrew Herrera (NYRemezcla.com). They join Carmen DiRienzo (V-me), Arthur Silver (Anna Sosenko Assist Trust), and Jose W. Fernandez (Latham & Watkins LLP). Bienvenidos!
Please forward this newsletter to your friends, family and co-workers so that they too can join our mailing list and receive special invites to TeatroStageFest events. Click here to do so. Happy Thanksgiving a todos!
