About SEVEN

SEVEN is a groundbreaking documentary play based on interviews with seven women's rights activists from seven countries around the world – Afghanistan, Cambodia, Guatemala, Nigeria, Northern Ireland, Pakistan, and Russia. The interviews were conducted by seven award-winning women playwrights – Paula Cizmar, Catherine Filloux, Gail Kriegel, Carol K. Mack, Ruth Margraff, Anna Deveare-Smith and Susan Yankowitz.
Silk Road Theatre Project's Staged Reading of SEVEN is being presented as part of the 16th Annual Asian American Showcase, sponsored by the Foundation for Asian American Independent Media and the Gene Siskel Film Center.

Performance History of SEVEN

SEVEN opened in New York City at the 92nd Street Y on January 21, 2008. It has been performed all over the world including U.S. performances in Aspen, Boston, Los Angeles, Philadelphia, and Washington, DC and international performances in Abuja (Nigeria), Brussels, Buenos Aires, Deauville (France), Geneva, The Hague, Istanbul, London, New Delhi, and Stockholm.

In March 2010 SEVEN opened the Women in the World Conference in New York City ssponsored by Tina Brown (Newsweek/The Daily Beast) and Vital Voices and introduced by U.S. Secretary of State Hillary Clinton.
