Red Bull 5 Pics brings together talented young enthusiasts and pioneering professional photographers. For the first time in the Middle East, photographers of all backgrounds reveal the inspiration that drives them, demonstrate the techniques and tricks that give them the edge and, most importantly, demonstrate their ability to tell a story through their photos. Each photographer is allowed five photographs (hence the name) to answer the assigned brief. The photographs will be assessed by our panel of judges and assessed on the following qualities:

– Beauty of photography
– Ability to tell a story over the course of five photographs
– Overall level of creativity in the concept

Top 20 photos will be exhibited at 52 Degrees at the Al-Tilal Complex in Shuwaikh starting on May 30th.

The Institut Français du Maroc calls for applications for creative residencies 2014 in various sites across Morocco.

The Institut français du Maroc covers transport, accommodation, and 200 DH per day during the residency. A financial support for the creation of a specific project can be additionally requested. The duration is to be defined according to disposability of the site and project requirements.

Eligibility: Priority will be given to Moroccan artists and intellectuals, residents in the country or abroad. But it is also open to artists from other countries, in particular from the francophone regions.

Home Workspace Program (HWP): Creating and Dispersing Universes that Work without Working

Led by Toufic and Vidokle, Ashkal Alwan's workshop program will focus on artistic concerns ranging from how to build and/or disperse a universe that doesn’t fall apart ‘two days’ later, to an inquiry into work in art practice and the possibility of sovereign art. Organized in five thematic blocks, the program will be comprised of a series of public lectures and a seminar by Jalal Toufic that draws on cinema, art, literature and science; and exhibitions and publishing projects organized by Anton Vidokle in collaboration with visiting artists, participants of the program and e-flux journal.

n is open to anyone who chooses to participate. Participants are welcome to any or all chapters of the curricular year. The program starts on September 24, 2013 and continues until July 2014.

Gallery Isabelle van den Eynde in Dubai is seeking a Gallery and Curatorial Intern and a Gallery Photography Intern. 

The Gallery and Curatorial Intern will work with the director to research and maintain files for artists and upcoming exhibitions, as well as to maintain a dynamic web presence. Candidates should have a strong interest or background in the Middle East and Middle Eastern cinema and arts, as well as experience working with desktop publishing and e-mail applications, including Excel, Word, Outlook and Publisher.

The Gallery Photography Intern will photograph artworks and exhibition views on an ongoing basis, maintain and update the digital image library and Art Butler database, as well as ensure all images are high quality and print-and-web-ready. Candidates should have proficiency in Adobe InDesign, Photoshop and Digital Assess Management software and possess the ability to operate scanning equipment, medium format camera, 35mm DSLR and other imaging equipment as needed
