In 2009, Reel Festivals organised the first major festival of Iraqi culture from Babylon to the present day in
the UK. And we're back…
Marking 10 years since the invasion of Iraq, Reel Iraq 2013 aims to shine a light on the conflict by celebrating the resilience and diversity of the art and culture of Iraq. It will explore the contribution of art, culture and creativity to Iraqi life in conflict – encouraging debate and discussion of what has, and hasn't, happened over the last decade.
The festival will take place in cities throughout the UK in March 2013 with satellite events planned in in other countries. A major component of the festival will comprise of film screenings of Iraqi films and films focusing on Iraq, and The Reel Festivals Film Committee would like to invite you to submit your entries!
If you are an Iraqi filmmaker, or have a film about Iraq, we want to hear from you! Your film can be of any
length, genre or style…

Featured: Deadline: November 15 – The Darat al Funun Dissertation Fellowship: Modern and Contemporary Art of the Arab World Darat al Funun-The Khalid Shoman Foundation is pleased to announce the 2013-14 dissertation fellowship. The fellowship was established in 2011 to encourage research on modern and contemporary art of the Arab world. The fellowship provides financial support of up to ten thousand dollars to Ph.D. candidates in the hummanities and social sciences. One to three fellowships will be granted. The fellowship duration can range from 4-12 months of residency at Durat al Funun in Amman, Jordan. Fellows are expected to pursue their own research, give at least one public lecture, and participate in Darat al Funun's cultural and artistic activities. Upon completeion of the fellowship, fellows are required to submit a five to seven page research report that will be available on Darat al Funun's website. Fellowship fundng is intended to compensate tavel and stipened expenses. Darat al Funun will provide housing and office space.For more information, please click here. |
