The Asia-Europe Foundation (ASEF), European Festivals Association (EFA) and LASALLE College of the Arts are calling for analytical articles that present a case study of arts festivals under one of the following topics: artistic programming of festivals, finding your audience or capacity building.

Participate in the first Art on Chairs International Design Competition, Paredes, Portugal (Deadline: 31 January 2012)

The competition is open to design students and professionals of all ages/nationalities. Be innovative in your proposal for a wooden chair, and win up to 15.000€, see your work prototyped and exhibited! 

Present your Indoor or Street Art Performance and participate in NEW!, International Program of the Tbilisi International Festival of Theatre, 5-15 October, Georgia (deadline: 1 March 2012)

NEW! celebrates works by artists from all over the world, but priority will be given to emerging and mid-career artists. NEW! will be made up of two strands: Indoor performances and Street art.

Get training

Apply for a Grundtvig mobility grant and participate free of charge to the Soul & Body training, 20-27 August, Szentendre, Hungary (deadline: 16 January 2012)

During the 1 week course, four different techniques will be presented: Fel
denkreis method, weight-flow technique, dance and express therapy and gaga dance. The Grundtvig grant covers travel, accommodation and course fee for people working in adult education. 

Register for the Ulm Danube School for Art Management, 24 June to 8 July, Germany (Deadline: 29 February 2012)

The School for Arts Management addresses young arts managers from Danube countries (Austria, Bulgaria, Croatia, Germany, Hungary, Moldova, Romania, Serbia, Slovakia and Ukraine) on the topics of project management, cultural marketing and more.

Discover a residency

 Aguazero visual arts award – 2 week residency at art and ecology residency Cortijada Los Gazquez, Andalucia, Spain (deadline: 31 December 2011)

Aguazero is a new international visual arts award for work in a water-based medium on or with paper. The competition has an environmental agenda requesting submissions to reference the contrary character of climate change. 

Apply for K.A.I.R., 3 months residency between May and Dec 2012 in Kosice, Slovakia (Deadline: 31 dec 2011)

In the frame of European Capital of Culture the NGO Kosice 2013 is running K.A.I.R. (Kosice Artist-in-Residence), an international Artist-in-Residence-program for emerging artists from all over the world and out of all artistic disciplines and expressions. 

Call of Mexican and European based digital media Artists for EMARE MEXICO, 2 months residencies in the EU and Mexico (Deadline: 6 February 2012)

The European Media Art Network and its partners offer residencies to digital media artists residing in Europe and Mexico, between April and Septembre 2012. Young artists are encouraged. Apply for residency in Mexico, England, Germany, France or the Netherlands!

ASEF and Culture360.org research project: Guide to Funding opportunities for International Cultural exchange in Asia (online survey until 15 January 2012)

The Asia-Europe Foundation and its online platform culture360.org are conducting a research on Funding Opportunities for International Cultural Exchange in Asia, based on the Guide to Mobility Funding Opportunities by OTM and Practics. An online survey has been launched to enable Asian cultural professionals to help covering as many funding opportunities as possible.

Are you an European cultural organisation planning an outdoor event/festival in late 2012? (deadline: 06 January 2012)

Cida Co is looking for 1 or 2 cultural/creative organisations in Europe (outside of UK) that would be able to host 6 Apprentice Producers on a 4 week work based placement programme between August and December 2012. There would be no costs for the host organisation (Leonardo Mobility Fund).

Give your input as performing artist in the Circostrada online survey about the sustainable development of circus/performing arts (Deadline: 15 March 2012)

In order to prepare the seminar Fresh Circus #2, Circostrada launched an online campaign to collect observations and propositions by artists and operators working in circus and across the performing arts about transnational issues.

Look for a Job

 Audition for male and female dancers for the Danish Dance Theatre, 10-12 February, Copenhagen (deadline: 06 January 2012)

Danish Dance Theatre is having its annual audition and will be looking for dancers with strong modern and classical technique. DDT’s season includes a minimum of 70 performances which take place in Copenhagen, as well as a broad range of national and international touring. Contracts available for season 2012/13!

Mobility Projects

Exploratory mapping of intermediary organisations supporting performing arts circulation in Europe

The SPACE network invested on the improvement of the sector's intermediaries capacity building in view of fruitful and sustainable mobility. This exploratory mapping is meant to initiate a reflection on the sector's organisational models and dynamics. The research was conducted by Cristina Farinha in 2011.

New Legal Guide to Cultural Mobility in Spain, by Interarts – Practics Infopoint

This publication, available in Spanish, addresses issues such as residence and work permits, labour and Social Security legislation, taxation, the recognition of academic and professional qualifications and business creation.

Europe-China Cultural Compass publication – an orientation for cultural cooperation between Europe and China, EUNIC

Are we meaning the same, when we say the same? — This was the leading question at the start of the EUROPE-CHINA CULTURAL COMPASS project, an initiative by partners of EUNIC in China, the Goethe-Institut, the British Council, and The Danish Cultural Institute.

To Moscow! networking and mobility guide for performing arts in Russia, published by TINFO

The Finnish Theatre Information Centre (TINFO) has published a handbook “To Moscow!.”, which contains tips and recommendations to Finnish theatres planning to tour Russia and will definitely be of help to all those planning to perform in Russia and to Russian theatres.
