2011 European Year of Volunteering (EYV)The European Commission has designated 2011 as the "European Year of Volunteering".EU Call for proposals launched for cultural cooperation projects with Mexico (deadline: 3 May)The cooperation projects to be co-financed through the call are bi-annual (20011-2013) and shall involve cultural cooperation with Mexico's cultural organizations and involve cultural activities carried out in Mexico.Culture in Motion Conference and the Stakeholder Consultation Meeting for the future Culture Programme, 15-16 February, BrusselsWhat is the added value of transnational cultural cooperation projects supported by the EU and what does European financing enable the cultural sector to achieve that would not have been possible otherwise? The European Commission is organising its 3rd Culture in Motion Conference 15-16 February 2011 in Brussels in order to help answer these and other questions.

DunaPart2011 Platform of Contemporary Hungarian Performing Arts, 20-22 January, Budapest, HungaryTrafó – House of Contemporary Arts and Workshop Foundation are organising the 2nd edition of the platform for contemporary Hungarian performing arts entitled dunaPart, to be held from 20 – 22 January 2011 in Budapest.


Delphic Art Movie Award, Show the Power of Art – Develop the Intercultural Dialogue – Call for Entries (deadline: 31 January)Admitted to the Delphic Art Movie Award are digital documentary short films (maximum duration: 10 minutes including credits), to show the world which artistic achievements of the last years have influenced the culture of a country. The films should ideally be a collaboration of film-makers and art historians / artists. This includes also students of the respective fields.5th Bucharest International JAZZ Competition 2011 for instrumentalists and vocalists, 7-13 May, Romania (deadline: 10 February)The 5th International Jazz Competition for bands and vocalists, to take place in Bucharest, Romania, 7-13 May is open to young people up to 35 years old.

Towards a Strategy for culture in the Mediterranean Region: the importance of mobility highlightedWith the objective to draft a demand driven strategy responding to the needs of the cultural field in partner countries, the European Commission has requested a report to Fanny Bouquerel and Basma El Husseiny to identify strategic areas for both the public authorities and the civil society. Call for proposals for the commissioning of a new European co-production, MADE (deadline: 24 January)MADE (Mobility of Digital Arts in Europe) is launching an open Call for Proposals, offering a co-production package and inviting professional artists from all EU member (or candidate) countries to submit project ideas under the theme ‘Digital arts and the new aesthetic experiences for public space and/or stage and exhibition spaces’.
