Brussels Conversations 2012 on A Cultural Coalition for a Citizens’ Europe – 16-17 November

This two-day conference will reflect upon the importance of active citizens and the role of arts and culture in the making of Europe in an inviting, participatory, and festive way. It will provide a platform where all sectors of civil society can discuss and reflect upon Europe’s future, about what unites us and what divides us. The primary concern is to strengthen civil participation and to create a renewed civil involvement for Europe’s development. Register online by 1 November!

Exchange Platform MADARAT – 20th – 22nd November 2012 Beirut, Lebanon

The Roberto Cimetta Fund will be organising a platform for exchange in collaboration with the Institut français de Beyrouth from 20th to 22nd November 2012. The platform will aim to engage actors from the Arab-Mediterranean region in advocacy, collaboration and exchanges.

Inequality, Mobility and Development in the Arab Region- Research Awards from the Arab Council for the Social Sciences

The Arab Council for the Social Sciences (ACSS) is pleased to announce a competition for research grants on the theme of “Inequality, Mobility and Development in the Arab Region.” These grants will be available to both individual researchers and teams of researchers from the Arab region, whether currently resident in or outside the region, and whose research focuses primarily on Arab societies. Grants are intended to support a maximum time-line of 24 months. Deadline for submission of narrative proposals: 6 November.

The Hodder Fellowship at Princeton University for writers, performing and visual artists

The Hodder Fellowship will be given to writers and other artists of exceptional promise to pursue independent projects at Princeton University during the 2013–2014 academic year. Hodder Fellows may be writers, composers, choreographers, visual artists, performance artists, or other kinds of artists or humanists who have "much more than ordinary intellectual and literary gifts"; they are selected more "for promise than for performance". Deadline: 1 November.

'Performing Arts Japan' support programme for arts and culture organisations of Europe and North America

Performing arts support program “Performing Arts Japan” (PAJ) accepts grant applications in two categories: Touring grant and Collaboration/Co-production grant, for the period going from April 1, 2013 and June 30, 2014. The grants can be used to cover travel expenses, accommodation, transport costs for equipment and translators' expenses in European countries. Deadline: November 2nd.

Cda-Projects Grant for Artistic Research and Production

The Cda grant aims at supporting and opening up discussions on artistic research to an expanded network through an open call. It encourages speculative approaches to how discourse is staged and how knowledge is produced, rethought and interwoven across disciplines. Authors (includes artists, curators, writers, thinkers etc…) of any nationality, regardless of age, can propose projects to be carried out individually or collectively. Kelola’s Arts Grants 2013

Kelola is now accepting applications for Arts Grants 2013. Since 2001, Arts Grants have provided opportunities for thousands of artists to create arts. This program has initiated both traditional and contemporary arts, to be shown locally and in a wider Indonesian region and motivated artist to create and improve their work. Individuals or groups of artists who are interested in applying the two categories provided – Touring Performance and Innovative Works – can send their proposals by 15 December.

The second Call for Proposals of the ACPCultures+ Programme has been launched to support ACP and European operators carrying out cooperation projects in the field of audiovisual and cultural sectors. The call will be closed on 20 December.

Auditions for Spanish / French / Egyptian contemporary dance co-productions for the Urban Visions program as part of the D-CAF Festival 2013

Open call for artists with background in contemporary or classical dance to participate in performances that combine theatre and dance, which will take place in Cairo and other cities of Egypt from March 29 to April 10, 2013. Presence to the rehearsals in Cairo is mandatory from November 2 to 10 and March 18 to April 7. Participants are financially remunerated. Send your application before November 1st.

15th State Theaters' Sabanci International Theater Festival, Turkey – call for artists

The 14th Turkish State Theatre Sabancı International Adana Theatre Festival will start on 27 March 2013 and will end on 28 April 2013. International companies are invited to apply by 1 November 2012. Travel and other costs are covered by the organisers.

IFFR Trainee Project for Young Film Critics 2013

The International Film Festival Rotterdam welcomes applications for the 15th IFFR Trainee Project for Young Film Critics taking place during its 42nd edition (January 23 – February 3, 2013). Applications open until 2 November.

Akbank Sanat international curator competition

Akbank Sanat International Curator Competition is intended to provide support for emerging curators, reinforce interest in curatorial practices, and encourage new projects in the field of contemporary art. The winning curator is given opportunities to release the proposal as an exhibition that will run from February to April 2013 at Akbank Art Centre, Istanbul. Travelling expenses of the curator/s and artists, among others, will be covered. Curators under the age of 40 are eligible to apply to the competition. There is no condition of residency or citizenship. Deadline: 5 November.

Saison Foundation Japan – Contemporary Theatre and Dance: International Project Support Program

The Saison Foundation in Japan announces calls for 2013 International Project Support and Visiting Fellows programmes, targeting performing artists and theatre and dance professionals seeking collaboration and research stays in Japan. The maximum length of a grant-receiving period for a continued project is three years. There will be no restrictions on the purpose of spending money. Deadline for applications: 8 November.

Open call for Bedford Creative Arts first commission of work on the theme of "ours"

Bedford Creative Arts is seeking proposals from artists or artists groups for their first major commission of 2013, to create art work in the specific settings of Central Bedfordshire town of Dunstable, UK. The artistic theme for 2013 is OURS – what we have in common and what makes something our own? Commission fee is available, and budgets for travel, materials, resources and specific events will be negotiated. Submit your proposal by November 30.

Art Production Fellowships in Mexico

Until November 30, the Mexican Agency for International Development (AMEXCID), under the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Mexican Government, opens a call for applications for Art Production Fellowships of 1 to 6 months in Mexico. Fellowship covers monthly stipend and travel costs.

Applications open for the festival Waves (Denmark, August 2013)

The Waves festival takes place every other year in Vordingborg, 100 km south of Copenhagen and presents a pluridisciplinary mix of theatre, performance, dance, visual arts, and street performance. The dates for 2013 are 24th – 31st of August. The applications for performances are now open – deadlines: 30 November (indoor performances) and 31 January (street performances).

La Fabrique des Cinémas du Monde is a one-week professional programme for talented young filmmakers who are working on their first or second feature film or documentary, organised by the Cinémas du Monde Pavilion at the 2013 Festival de Cannes (May 16 to 24). The director and productor's travel, accommodation, meal and accreditation costs are covered over several days during the Cannes Film Festival. Send your project before December 15.

A course throughout Beppu city – call for international artists in residence (Japan)

The BEPPU PROJECT is opening an International Artist in Residence program for artists in the music field and the contemporary art field (visual arts and performing arts). We are offering artists a place in Beppu city (Kyushu island in the South of Japan) for artistic stimulus and production. Artists will be invited to realize a new art project, or a workshop with Beppu citizens, or talk series. Travel costs – amongst others – are covered. Deadline: 23 November.

Open call: Residency for curators and artists at the International Centre of Graphic Arts, Ljubljana, Slovenia

The EU-funded project “Password: Printmaking” creates links between artists, theoreticians, art institutions and academies across Europe. It focuses on the contemporary graphic arts and contemporary reproducible visual art practices in relation to residency participation and workshops. An open call is launched for artists in residence at the International Centre of Graphic Arts in Ljubljana, Slovenia. Travel costs – among others – are covered. Deadline: 20 November.

UNESCO-Aschberg Bursaries for Artists

The UNESCO-Aschberg Bursaries Programme offers bursaries for 2013 in the following fields: Creative Writing, Music and Visual Arts. Deadlines for applications range from 15 October to 30 November according to the residency place chosen. Make your choice!

2013 Odyssée artist-in-residency programme: call for projects

Artists, researchers and culture professionals coming from countries other than France and wanting to apply for a residency period within a Cultural Centre – Historic Monument in 2013 can send their applications to the selected Centre until December 3, 2012. The Odyssée programme covers a monthly stipend for the artist, accommodation and refunds the travel costs.

Weaving politics – International cross-disciplinary symposium on choreography, human rights and violence. Stockholm (Sweden), 14-16 December

WEAVING POLITICS addresses choreography as a weaving labor of politics. And by a cobweb of specific languages and disenchanted knowledge engages in a scrutiny of the notions and practices of human rights, and violence. The symposium invites choreography, philosophy, sociology, cultural studies, law, political science and the general public to a three-days storm of lectures, discussions, and choreographic events in critical interaction.
