Free movement of workers in the public sector: new European Commission paper Is the mobility of public employees in the EU easier than for those working for private enterprises or as freelancers? This question is relevant for the many arts and cultural operators and administrators working in the public sector.The Commission has addressed this issue in its latest Staff Working Document "Free movement of workers in the public sector". Looking forward to cooperating with Bosnia and Herzegovina within the Culture Programme 2007-2013! On December 2010, a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) for full participation of Bosnia and Herzegovina in the European Union Culture Programme 2007-2013 was signed by both parties. From 2011 onwards European operators can look forward to cooperating with Bosnia-Herzegovinan partners, whose rich cultural heritage ensures ample opportunities for fruitful projects.

Nordic-Baltic Culture Mobility Fund: Application times for 2011 published with various deadlines The Nordic-Baltic Mobility Programme for Culture provides funding for the mobility for individuals; network building for artists and cultural operators; and residency centres. Application times for 2001 have just been published. Cultural Cooperation Placements Moldova–Ukraine-European Union (deadline: 15 February) Are you looking for new partners in Europe or interested in transnational co-operation with countries outside the European Union? Stockholm Fringe Festival (Stoff) is looking for talent!, 22-28 August, Sweden (deadline: 20 March) Stockholm Fringe Fest (Stoff) is a festival that aims to support and promote cutting edge theatre and performance making. Stoff is now looking for proposals from emerging artists whose work challenges and questions conventional artistic forms to perform in 22-28 August 2011! Call for projects – young amateur theatre – Shakespeare Festival 2011, 25 July – 2 August, Ardèche-Drôme, France (deadline: 15 February) The 12th edition of Shakespeare Festival, a Meetings of Youth Theatre from different backgrounds, will take place from July the 25th to August the 2nd in Tournon sur Rhône – Tain l’Hermitage, Ardèche, Drôme, France. It gathers young people from Théâtre du Sycomore and other young amateurs from different backgrounds around actions facilitating the meeting, sharing and cultural exchange.Applications for 4th edition of KINANI – CONTEMPORARY DANCE PLATFORM 2011 are open, 1-6 November, Maputo, Mozambique Kinani is a biennial international festival created in 2005 to expand the presence of contemporary dance in Maputo, Mozambique. It is a festival that aims at promoting contemporary dance and at professionalizing young choreographers. From 1 to 6 November, Kinani will be the meeting point of young dancers, choreographers, directors and professionals on contemporary dance from all over. European student competition: call for proposals for short audiovisual productions, Languages through Lenses (deadline: 25 March) ELIA – European League of Institutes of the Arts – in cooperation with CILECT- International Association of Film and Television Schools – is issuing a Call for Proposals for the production of new short audiovisual productions (minimum 60 maximum 90 seconds) promoting multilingualism in Europe.

The course language and all available information is in French. 26th Winter Dance School, 19-24 February, Maribor, Slovenia (deadline for discount registration: 5 February) The 26th Winter Dance School will take place from the 19th till the 24th of February 2011 in Maribor, in the renovated building Karantena, organized by Republic of Slovenia Public Fund for Cultural Activities and Association of Cultural Societies Maribor. It is recommended for dancers, dance mentors, choreographers and everybody who is actively involved with dance and movement.

The 2 residencies are scheduled for September/October 2011. May 2011 ARTFEST RESIDENCY for artists under 35 years old, Borsec, Romania (deadline: 30 March) The 2011 Borsec residency from Transylvania, Romania will start on May 1st. The organiser, Artfest Association, a Romanian non-profit art organization invites artists under 35, from all fields of art have to send their CV and samples of their work no latter than March 30.

The contribution of Culture to the implementation of the Europe 2020 Strategy, 28 February – 1 March, Budapest, Hungary (deadline: 11 February) The Hungarian Presidency of the Council of the European Union is organising a conference to identify the role of culture in the success of the Europe 2020 Strategy to take place on the 28 February – 1 March in Budapest. 1st international meeting "contemporary music in the international scene", temp’óra, 1-2 March, Cenon and Bordeaux, France (deadline for papers: 15 February) The meeting organized by temp’óra on March 1st and 2nd aims to sum up the situation of contemporary music on the international scene and to find some solutions in order to improve the actual situation beyond aesthetic splits and hegemonies.

60secondsdance.dk COMPETITION IS NOW OPEN (deadline: 15 March) A co-production of Dansens Dage and ScreenMoves, Copenhagen, Denmark, this online screendance competition, hosted on http://www.60secondsdance.dk is funded by Dansens Dage and Nordea-fonden. It aims to give screendance makers the opportunity to produce, through their lens, a one-minute online screendance video. International competition for Young Dance Performers "Fusion", 11th June, Slovenian National Theatre Celje (deadline: 16 April) The 3rd International Competition of Young Dance Performers OPUS 1 – short dance piece 2011 (Celje, Slovenian National Theatre Celje, 11th June 2011 at 7 pm) is open to dancers born between 1987 and 2002, promoted by Republic of Slovenia Public Fund for Cultural Activities. International ex-libris competition DANUBE – ROUTE OF CULTURE (KULTURSTRASSE), BalkanKult Foundation (deadline: 30 March) The Balkankult Foundation from Belgrade is launching the Third international Ex-libris competition on the topic of The Danube – Route of Culture to support intercultural dialogue, cooperation among artists and institutions throughout the Danube region, as well as the development of communicational, professional and technical international artistic and cultural relations.

HIGH FEST International Performing Arts Festival, 1-10 October, Yerevan, Armenia (deadline: 1 March) The HIGH FEST welcomes performing arts companies and artists to present their productions in all genres, including theatre (drama, comedy, mime, movement, circus, street performances, puppet/marionette, fingers theatre, visual), dance (modern, folk, classic etc.), music (opera, classical, musical, contemporary, jazz, folk etc).

Symposium exploring “mobility around the Mediterranean", Istikshaf project, 4-5 February, Alexandria, Egypt A Mediterranean city par excellence, Alexandria will host on the 4th and 5th of February 2011 the first symposium “Exploring Mobility around the Mediterranean“ organized by the Arab Education Forum – Safar Fund and Roberto Cimetta Fund in cooperation with The International Association for Creation and Training (I-act) and hosted by the 8th edition of the Creative Forum for independent theatre groups (Europe-Mediterranean).

The ‘PAiR’ Initiative – Performing Arts in Residence: open to new partners Traditionally, Artist in Residence programmes as individual scholarships were to be found in the field of visual arts, literature, and music. During the last meetings of the networks Res Artis and ACCR, Schloss Broellin (Germany) started informally the discussion around residencies for artists of the Performing Arts, articulating the rising needs for European/international ensembles to meet and work at appropriate places.
