www.on-the-move.org is a website dedicated to information about international mobility in the areas of theatre, dance, music and other performing arts disciplines. We issue a regular bulletin with opportunities for the mobility of artists and other performing arts professionals plus news, policy and resource items that specifically concern international mobility.

You are invited to send us news and announcements with specific opportunities or information, to facilitate and encourage cross-border professional mobility in the contemporary performing arts. Suitable news items will be posted on the website and is distributed to our subscribers worldwide in our newsflash.

M1 Singapore Fringe Festival 2009 (deadline: 14 Mar) M1 Singapore Fringe Festival is an annual festival of theatre, performance art, film, dance, visual arts, mixed media, music and forum. The theme for M1 Singapore Fringe Festival 2009 is Art and Family. We accept applications from professional Singapore and international artists / companies. 14th Alaçati International Theatre Festival for Children & Youth, Turkey, 23-28 Jun (deadline: 4 Apr) 14th ALACATI INTERNATIONAL THEATRES FOR CHILDREN AND YOUTH FESTIVAL will be organized by TOBAV (Theatre Opera and Ballet members foundation) with the collaboration of Municipality of Alaçati on 23rd and 28th June 2008. 4th Ordu International Theatre Festival for Children & Youth, Turkey, Jun 2-8 (deadline: 4 Apr) The fourth Ordu International Theatre for Children and Youth Festival will be organized by the collaboration of Municipality of Ordu and TOBAV between 2nd and 8th June 2008. 7th International Festival of Performance Art, Toronto, Canada, Oct/Nov 08 (deadline: 15 Jan) This is the call for submissions for 7a*11d's 7th International Festival of Performance Art in 11 years, taking place in Toronto from October 22 – November 2, 2008.

Competitions

1st Aarhus International Choreography Competition, 12-14 Jun, Denmark (deadline: 11 Feb) The Competition is aimed at emerging choreographers and the purpose is to find and develop new, professional talents within contemporary dance. TRAFORMA Creation Contest, Senigallia, Italy (deadline: 15 Feb) TRAFORMA – art and sustainable city Creation Contest is looking for artistic projects bringing out the sense of social responsibility of art in an original and innovative way and in a perspective of sustainable development. ARD International Music Competition Sep 2008, Munich (deadline: Apr 30, 2008) The 57th ARD International Music Competition 2008 in Munich will be held for the following categories: Viola, Clarinet, Bassoon,String Quartet. Musicians from all nations born between 1979 and 1991 are eligible to take part.

ArtistNe(s)t residencies for writers, Romania, May & Oct (deadline: 11 Feb) The National Museum “George Enescu” – the department “Dumitru and Alice Rosetti Tescanu – George Enescu” and the Swiss Cultural Programme South-East Europe and Ukraine invite writers to apply for residences in May and October 2008. MOVING_movimento 2008 choreography competition – residencies in Tuscany (deadline: 7 Jan) MOVING_Movimento is a project dedicated to young choreographers resident in Italy or choreographers active abroad, offering choreographic residences for contemporary dance research projects. Dance residencies, Pointe Ephemere, Paris, Feb – Jul 2008 (deadline: 20 Dec) Experimental choreographic dance residencies are offered at Pointe Ephemere in Paris – residencies last one month, during the period Feb – July 2008. Residencies at PACT Zollverein Choreographic Centre, Essen, Germany, Aug – Dec 08 (deadline: Jan 16) CALL FOR ENTRIES – RESIDENCIES at PACT Zollverein Choreographic centre in Essen, Germany from August to December 2008. 

Training

Falling Wide Easter School (Skinner Releasing Technique), London 7-25 Apr The only opportunity outside the USA to intensively study the pioneering Skinner Releasing Technique, alongside improvisation and performance creation with leading international dance artists. International Summer School for Young Theatre Artists, Moscow Region, Jun 2008 (deadline: 3 Mar) Theatre Union of Russia, following the success of 2007 Summer School, will host its second Summer School for Young Professional Actors from June 1 to June 28, 2008 in the old Russian town of Zvenigorod. Artists from any country may apply. Basic knowledge of Russian is required.  European Diploma in Cultural Project Management 2008/09 (deadline: 15 Jan) The European Diploma in cultural project management is a pan-European training program arising from the will to foster cultural diversity as well as trans-regional and transnational cultural exchanges. The Hicter Fondation is the organizer and manager of the course.

22nd World Congress on Dance Research, Athens, 2-6 Jul (deadline for presentation applications: 30 May) 22nd World Congress on Dance Research – Athens, Greece, 2-6 July 2008, the largest gathering of dance specialists world-wide. Babel Med Music, Marseilles, 27-29 Mar – registration for stands The 4th edition of Babel Med Music will take place in Marseilles from Thursday 27th to Saturday 29th March 2008. International Festival Fair,Theatre Methods 08 Between Tradition and Contemporaneity, Malpils, Latvia, Jul 7-13, 2008 (Deadline: Dec 20) TM is the annual professional festival- fair bringing up the question of the Bridge between tradition and contemporaneity in performing arts. It is organised by IUGTE.
