www.on-the-move.org is a website dedicated to information about professional mobility in the areas of theatre, dance, music and other performing arts disciplines.

Periodically we issue a bulletin with news, policy and resource items that specifically concern mobility, or relate to opportunities that generate the mobility of artists.

European Year of Intercultural Dialogue 2008 – launch of partners section of website The European Union has declared 2008 the European Year of Intercultural Dialogue (EYID 2008). The partner section of EYID 2008 website has been launched, designed as a networking platform. Imagine Africa, new global campaign for African arts By the force of exceptional artists, minds and manifestations a new African Image is about to evolve. Imagine Africa contributes to this force of new imagination, by supporting contemporary African arts and culture.

Grants for Mobility

Culture Programme: CALL FOR 2008 ANNOUNCED (deadlines 31 Oct & 5 Nov) + Information Day, Brussels, Sept 14th The European Commission has announced its call for 2008 funding proposals under the Culture Programme. An Information Day meeting will be organised in Brussels on September 14th for potential applicants.Nordic cultural cooperation grants: mobility, network funding, artists residencies (various deadlines) Nordic Culture Point announces the current call for applications under the Nordic region schemes for supporting cultural cooperation in and with the region. Culture Programme: call for cultural cooperation projects with China & India (deadline: 1 Oct) Call for cultural cooperation proposals with and in third countries (China & India) announced. Bi-annual projects to take place 2007-2009 can be considered.  Call for proposals for local and regional cultural activities in Syria, with European partners (deadline: 15 Sep) The Delegation of the European Commission to Syria is seeking proposals for Local and Regional cultural activities in Syria with financial assistance from the MEDA Programme. Partners can come from EU, candidate and EEA countries. NPN grants for contemporary dance international co-productions with German partners (deadline: 15 Oct) NATIONAL PERFORMANCE NETWORK (NPN) support for co-productions made with partners in Germany. Grants available up to 50% of a production's budget. PAJ Europe (grants for Japan-Europe performing arts projects): deadline: 27 Oct PAJ Europe is the Japan Foundation's Performing Arts programme for Europe, offering grants to organisations based in Europe for Japan-related performing arts projects, either Touring or Collaboration/Co-productions.

DANÇA SEM SOMBRA, international show of video dance, Lisbon/Portugal, Nov 07 (deadline: 30 Sep) The International show of Video-Dance. Dança sem Sombra ’07 returns to Lisbon and to other places in Portugal in November 2007. Applications invited. Disonancias – call for artists to work with companies/research centres in Basque Country, Spain (deadline: 3 Oct) Call for artists to work on joint research projects in 9 companies and investigation centres. Plateaux festival, Germany, April 2008 (deadline: 1 Sep) Invitation to international artists, performers and companies to send in conceptual proposals for the Plateaux festival in April 2008. INPORT 2007, International Video-performance art festival, Tallinn, Estonia, Dec 2007 (deadline: 14 Oct) Performance artists all around the world are invited to send proposals for INPORT, International Video-Performance Art Festival, in Tallinn / Estonia on December 2007. Aerowaves at The Place, London & Operaestate Festival, Italy (deadline: 24 Sep) Aerowaves is the international strand of Resolution!, The Place’s annual, new year open season for shorter dance works. Ten works from across Europe perform once alongside their British counterparts as part of a triple bill. Applications invited. International Prize for Performance, Trento, Italy, 5-6 Oct (deadline: 22 Aug) The announcement is open to artists, or group of artists, of all nationalities, originating from all formative backgrounds (visual arts, dance, theatre, music, poetry), born from January 1st, 1972. dance screeen The Hague 2007 – call for dance videos & films (EXTENDED DEADLINE: 15 Aug) Call for entries dance screen The Hague 2007 – 11th International Festival and Competition for Dance Films & Videos.

Residencies

Fondation Daniel Langlois – grants for research and experimentation residencies for artists, Montreal (deadline: 30 Sep) Research and Experimentation Residencies in Montreal (OBORO) for Professional Artists from Emerging Countries or Regions.Residencies at MacDowell Colony, USA (deadline: 15 Sep) Next deadline for residencies Feb-May 2008 is September 15th. Open to composers, writers and other artists in many disciplines.

European Glossary on Arts and Cultural Education Cultuurnetwork Nederlands launches a first pilot phase of the European Glossary Initiative with a database of terms used by European countries in the field of arts and cultural education.
