www.on-the-move.org is a website dedicated to information about professional mobility in the areas of theatre, dance, music and other performing arts disciplines.

Periodically we issue a bulletin with news, policy and resource items that specifically concern mobility, or relate to opportunities that generate the mobility of artists.

On the Move reaches record number of site users In June OTM received a record number of visits to the site: 43,602 – an increase of 70% against the same period last year.

Portugal takes on EU Presidency – cultural programme annouced Portugal took on the Presidency of the EU on 1st July 2007 and announced its programme for culture. Success in UK campaign against higher visa fees for artists & performers The UK National Campaign for the Arts welcomes partial reversal of visa fee increases. Proposed increases in fees have been reduced substantially. European Commission adopts a Communication on Culture – Cultural Forum in Lisbon announced The European Commission has adopted a Communication on a European agenda for culture in a globalising world – to be debated at a Cultural Forum meeting in Lisbon in September. EU Culture Programme 2007-2013 – results for first call The results for the first call for cultural cooperation projects have been published online by the Education, Audiovisual & Culture Executive Agency (EACEA) at the European Commission.

Grants for Mobility

Nordic Cultural Cooperation grants – capacity development, production, residency centres & more (deadlines: 5 & 24Aug) The Nordic Culture Programme has various modules of funding initiatives to develop cultural cooperation in and with the Nordic region. Cantemir Programme – cultural exchange++ with Romania (deadline: 13 Aug) New grants scheme to promote Romanian culture abroad and to encourage cooperation between Romanian and foreign artists. Arab Fund for Arts and Culture (deadline: Oct 30) The Arab Fund for Arts and Culture (AFAC)announces a call for applications for project grants for collaborative work and other priorities. Applications invited from artists, writers and cultural operators. Iberescena performing arts programme (various deadlines) Iberescena is an Iberoamerican fund to support programmes of exchange, improvement and integration of Iberoamerican activities in the performing acts – four categories for applications.

'Actors seeking Authors', call for short plays (deadline: 31 Jul) “Actors seeking Authors” changes its formula after 20 successful years. Call for short plays suitable for stage and screen. Francisco Vinas International Operatic Singing Contest, Barcelona, Jan 2008 (deadline: Oct 15) Preliminary auditions to be held in Hamburg, London, Paris, New York, Barcelona, Milan and Madrid. Pointe to Point, 5th Asia-Europe Dance Forum, Beijing & Guizhou, China, 13-24 Nov (deadline: 10 Aug) Call for choreographer/dancers and for composer/improvisers from Asia and Europe. Margarita Arnaoudova Award – VII Competition for contemporary choreorography based on Bulgarian music (deadline: 25 Jul) Choreographers and dancers with professional experience in the sphere of contemporary dance can participate in the competition. PACT Zollverein Atelier (open choreographic platform), Germany, 7 Sept (deadline: 25 Jul) CALL FOR ENTRIES – PACT Zollverein: Atelier in September on 07.09.2007 – the platform for new art and choreography. Solo and Duo Dance International Festival, Budapest, Jan 2008 (deadline: 15 Oct) New, short dance productions are wanted! Euro-Med Young Artists Network (EMYAN) seeks partners, mentors & participants for art 2.0 project art 2.0 – a new Euro-Med Young Artists Network (EMYAN) initiative seeks academic mentors, partners and participants. Creative Forum for Independent Theatre Groups Europe-Mediterranean, Alexandria, Egypt, 1-10 Feb 2008 – UPDATED – NEW PROGRAMMES (deadline: 30 Sep) Two new programmes announced – call for playwrights and for theatre students.
