Portugal takes on EU Presidency – cultural programme annouced Portugal took on the Presidency of the EU on 1st July 2007 and announced its programme for culture. Success in UK campaign against higher visa fees for artists & performers The UK National Campaign for the Arts welcomes partial reversal of visa fee increases. Proposed increases in fees have been reduced substantially. European Commission adopts a Communication on Culture – Cultural Forum in Lisbon announced The European Commission has adopted a Communication on a European agenda for culture in a globalising world – to be debated at a Cultural Forum meeting in Lisbon in September. EU Culture Programme 2007-2013 – results for first call The results for the first call for cultural cooperation projects have been published online by the Education, Audiovisual & Culture Executive Agency (EACEA) at the European Commission.

Nordic Cultural Cooperation grants – capacity development, production, residency centres & more (deadlines: 5 & 24Aug) The Nordic Culture Programme has various modules of funding initiatives to develop cultural cooperation in and with the Nordic region. Cantemir Programme – cultural exchange++ with Romania (deadline: 13 Aug) New grants scheme to promote Romanian culture abroad and to encourage cooperation between Romanian and foreign artists. Arab Fund for Arts and Culture (deadline: Oct 30) The Arab Fund for Arts and Culture (AFAC)announces a call for applications for project grants for collaborative work and other priorities. Iberescena performing arts programme (various deadlines) Iberescena is an Iberoamerican fund to support programmes of exchange, improvement and integration of Iberoamerican activities in the performing acts – four categories for applications.
