Celebrating our 23rd season
5 weeks on the Amherst College campus in Amherst, MA on our season theme of
July 5-August 3, 2014
+ special events, workshops, an interactive art installation, lobby displays & lively discussions
Each year the theatrical performances at Ko are curated on a theme that we think will entertain, provoke & inspire our audiences. 2014 has been a year in which there has much discussion about the minimum wage; about the gaps in our society: recent graduates, whose prospects are for hourly wage work, versus those a looking towards a career, or best of all, those following a passion or discovering a calling; the loss of identity often faced by the people who lose their jobs or who retire; and the politics of parenting – as a job, career or calling.
While thought-provoking, these show are also highly entertaining. Styles range from outdoor stilt spectacular to physical theatre film-noire to solo show, and are performed by a diverse group of artists who are coming to us from two places in California, and up and down the East Coast. All works are original, created by the people who come to Ko to perform them & their teams of collaborators.
Each performance is accompanied by a lobby display that contextualizes the work & by lively post-performance discussions that are a springboard for inter-audience/artist exchange & civic dialogue.
