We are glad to announce the call for the IX World Congress of the International University Theatre Association (AITU-IUTA), that will be held in Minsk, Belarus: June 25–29, 2012. Theme: "Traditions; Research; Experimentation: The Essential Elements of Contemporary University Theatre".
In the world of theatre in general and university theatre in particular, there is a marked renewal of interest in cultural, anthropological and even properly theatrical traditions. We think that this movement, which is observable in many countries around the world, goes beyond the well-known mechanisms of identity-building and resistance to the standardization of practices that promote colonialism and globalization. The very fact that this movement should arise now, and so emphatically, deserves our full attention.
The programme of the Congress activities consists of scientific, educational and entertaining events: guests’ presentations, thematic desks, workshops, Open Space discussions, cultural tours, Congress socializing club and the special edition of the 9th Teatralny Koufar International Student Theatre Festival in the evening. Deadline for any kind of application: January 15, 2012!

TEMA: “Tradición; Investigación; Experimentación: Elementos Esenciales del Teatro Universitario Contemporáneo” ESPAÑOL Queridos amigos,Tenemos mucho gusto en informarles la celebración del IX Congreso Mundial de la Asociación Internacional de Teatro Universitario (AITU-IUTA), Minsk, Belarus, 25 – 29 de junio, 2012. Tema: “Tradición; Investigación; Experimentación: Elementos Esenciales del Teatro Universitario Contemporáneo”.
En el mundo del teatro en general y en el teatro universitario en particular, hay una notoria renovación del interés en los aspectos culturales, antropológicos y hasta propiamente en la tradición teatral. Pensamos que este movimiento, que se observa en muchos países alrededor del mundo, va más allá de los mecanismos conocidos de construcción de la identidad y de resistencia a la estandarización de las prácticas que promueven el colonialismo y la globalización. El hecho de que este movimiento pueda surgir ahora, tan enfática, y delicadamente, merece nuestra total atención.
El programa de actividades consiste en eventos científicos, educacionales y entretenimiento: ponencias de los participantes, mesas redondas temáticas, talleres, seminarios, debates abiertos, excursiones culturales, foro social del congreso y la edición especial del 9no Teatralny Koufar Festival Internacional de Teatro Universitario por las tardes. Fecha límite para cualquier tipo de aplicación: 15 de enero de 2012!

Nous sommes heureux de vous annoncer le IXe Congrès Mondial de l’Association Internationale du Théâtre à l’Université (AITU-IUTA) se tiendra à Minsk, Belarus, du 25 au 29 juin, 2012. THÈME: "Traditions. Recherche. Expérimentation : les composantes essentielles du théâtreuniversitaire vontemporain".
Dans le monde du théâtre en général et du théâtre universitaire en particulier, on note un regain certain d’intérêt pour les traditions culturelles, anthropologiques et proprement théâtrales. Nous pensons que ce mouvement, observable dans beaucoup de pays, va au-delà des mécanismes bien connus de construction de l’identité et de résistance à la standardisation des pratiques qui promeuvent le colonialisme et la mondialisation. Le seul fait que ce mouvement surgisse maintenant, et de manière aussi vigoureuse, mérite toute notre attention.
Le programme du congrès comporte des activités scientifiques, des activités de formation et des activités de loisir: communications, tables rondes thématiques, ateliers, débats ouverts, excursions culturelles, rencontres et, en soirée, l’édition spéciale du 9e Teatralny Koufar, Festival International de Théâtres d'Étudiants. Date limite pour soumission de projets : 15 Janvier 2012!
