ASSISTANT DIRECTOR OF INTERNATIONAL PROGRAMS Reports to: Director of Artistic Programs/International Theatre Institute, US Theatre Communications Group (TCG) is honored to have served as the US Center of the International Theatre Institute (ITI) since 1999. In its capacity as ITI/US, TCG is part of a global network (founded by UNESCO close to 60 years ago) of over 90 national centers dedicated to promoting international cultural exchange and advocacy. TCG supports intercultural and international exchange, and provides assistance to traveling theatre professionals. It provides support letters for theatres seeking visas to bring foreign guest artists to the United States, and advocates for less restrictive federal policies regarding the exchange of artists. MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Works closely with Director to oversee all international programming activities, including but not limited to Grant Programs, International Theatre Institute Programs, Conferences and Convenings;
- Plans and executes future programming in partnership with the Director;
- Designs and implements new programs, as needed;
- Works with the Director and Board Committee on strategic planning;
- Researches potential funders, and works with Director and Development Department on fundraising;
- Maintains international presence on TCG website;
- Advocates for international activity at conferences, panels, and other events;
- Travels as needed to conferences, meetings and events in the US and abroad
QUALIFICATIONS/REQUIREMENTS
- Extensive experience in international exchange, collaboration and/or programming;
- Extensive experience in either grant program management or development;
- Ability to think strategically and articulate details;
- Strong writing skills;
- Ability to speak in public and communicate with a variety of constituents;
- Fluency in French. Spanish, Arabic and/or other languages is helpful;
- Team player and team leader;
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel.
