2. HHTI Reunion in NYC! I will be in NY mid-summer for the Black Theatre Network conference that is being held this year at NYU.
– Friday August 1 is a free day to prospective members (check the website for the schedule in about 2 weeks — it is not up to date at the moment). BTN is anamazing organization of practitioners, scholars, and community leaders open to all people interested in the past, present, and future of Black theatre in the US(and beyond). They have been hugely supportive of HHTI and I would love for HHTI members to make a great showing on August 1 to show our appreciation.
– BTN is hosting a SLAM POETRY EVENT onSunday, August 3 National Black Theatre in Harlem 2031 5th Avenue, 8:00-10:00 PM to which all HHTImembers are invited. HHTI faculty reg e gaines will be moderating (tickets are $10).
– I'd like to host a gathering on August 5, 6:30-9 PM where we can get together, eat, catch up, share what we are up to, and talk about the next 10 years! Canfolks please let me know if they are available that night? Also, I'll need someone to help with logistics, if anyone would like to volunteer.
