To open the new year, our Editor Judith Staines highlights the main cultural events in 2014 taking place across Asia and Europe through a dedicated article listing art biennials and fairs, cultural years, cultural industries events, and various festivals.

Additionally, the Asia-Europe Foundation (ASEF) is glad to announce 7 selected projects in the framework of its programmes Creative Encounters: Cultural Partnerships between Asia and Europe and the newly launched ASEF Creative Networks, which seeks to establish new networks between Asia and Europe.

We also highlight the launch of 3 new cultural policy profiles, namely India, Korea and Viet Nam, as part of the WorldCP International Databases of Cultural Policies – Asia supported by ASEF in partnership with the International Federation of Arts Councils and Culture Agencies (IFACCA). The new profiles are now available to download from the respective country pages onculture360.org.

Lastly, some insights into the cultural scenes of Luxembourg and the Jakarta Art Biennale are the latest additions to the Magazine section, and an interview with Christina Schott, organiser of the First Climate Art Festival in Yogyakarta, Indonesia, elaborates on the potential links between visual arts and sustainable development.

We wish you all a happy new year!
