Join us for the international Climate Change Theatre Action Kick-Off Event on November 2, 2015 at the Nuyorican Poets Cafe!
A joint initiative from NoPassport, The Arctic Cycle and Theatre Without Borders, Climate Change Theatre Action is a series of worldwide readings and performances intended to bring awareness to, and foster discussion around, climate change. It was designed in support of the United Nations 2015 Paris Climate Conference (COP21) taking place November 30-December 11, 2015.

A collection of 1-5 minute plays, songs and poems by writers from all six livable continents, curated by Caridad Svich, Chantal Bilodeau and Elaine Avila, has been made available to collaborators worldwide. One hundred events ranging from informal readings in classrooms to day-long festivals, from radio programs and film adaptations to site-specific performances at the foot of glaciers, will be held throughout the months of November and December 2015 in over 20 countries.

To kick-off the project, we invite you to join us for a presentation by NASA climatologist Gavin Schmidt followed by a reading of pieces by Deborah Assimwe (Uganda), Elaine Avila (Canada), Chantal Bilodeau (US/Canada), Lenora Champagne (US), Jody Christopherson and Ryan McCurdy (US), Mindi Dickstein (US), Daniel Gallant (US), Dipika Guha (US/India), Amina Henry (US/Jamaica), Neil Labute (US), Oliver Mayer (US), Winter Miller (US), Chiori Miyagawa (US), Giovanni Ortega (US/Philippines/Spain), Jeremy Pickard (US), August Schulenburg (US), Stephen Sewell (Australia), Saviana Stanescu (US/Romania), Caridad Svich (US), and Heather Woodbury (US).
