The full program is now available of the 2nd Between the Seas Festival of Mediterranean Performing Arts that will happen from August 20-26th at the Wild Project in NYC (195 East 3rd str). 

Several performances will be of interest to this group: Lebanese director Lina Abiad brings her new play I.D. exploring transgender identities in the Mediterranean; Mancopy Dance Company from Denmark will present Every Last Breath, a collaboration with dancers from Lebanon, Egypt and Palestine; director and filmaker M. Karimi-Hakak will screen his documentary The Glass Wall and direct a staged reading of Benedictus, a play created in collaboration with Motti Lerner, Torange Yeghiazarian, Daniel Michaelson, Roberta Levitow, and M. Karimi-Hakak; and director Kareem Fahmy will present a stage reading of This Time, a play based the memoir Not So Long Ago, by Zeinab Allam which tells the story of Zeinab's departure from Egypt in the 1960s because of an affair she was having with an American professor.

AITheatre is an online group devoted to the exploration, discussion and promotion of all issues related to Arabic and Islamic theatre(s) and cultural practices, ideally with a view to comparable ones in the West. Membership of the group is open to all scholars and artists willing to endorse these aims.
