Dear friends and supporters,

Thank you for your continued support of the Australian Aboriginal Theatre Initiative (AATI), the only New York based theater company presenting Festivals of new work by emerging and established indigenous writers and artists from Australia, New Zealand, Samoa and the United States. AATI will present its inaugural main-stage production and the New York premiere of Yanagai! Yanagai! by Australian Aboriginal playwright, Andrea James (Yorta Yorta) at La MaMa E.T.C. opening January 8, 2009.

The play tells the land rights struggle of the Yorta Yorta people whose country is on the vast river and lake system in far northern Victoria on the border of New South Wales in Australia. Yanagai! Yanagai! evokes a place where past, present and future exist as one, using music, puppetry and touches of magic realism. For more information on the play and its history, please visit our website at

Since 2004, AATI has presented an annual Staged Reading Series and Post-Show Discussions of works by international and local indigenous artists, New Indigenous Voices. All events are free and open to the general public. While in New York, the invited artists conduct workshops free of charge at universities, colleges, theatre institute and public schools.

AATI has received some financial support but in order to make our main-stage production of Yanagai! Yanagai! a reality we need your help!  Please make a donation today.  No gift is too large or too small. The Australian Aboriginal Theatre Initiative, Inc. is a nonprofit 501c3 organization and all donations are fully deductible to the extent permitted by law.
