6th International Puppetry Festival (“IPfest 2014”) Nairobi, KENYA
The Kenya Institute of Puppet Theatre (KIPT) is organizing the 6th edition of the International Puppetry Festival (IPfest 2014) in Kenya.
The goal of the IPfest 2014 is to promote Global Cultural Diversity for Peace and Unity through Puppetry
The festival will be held from November 5th – 9th, 2014 in Nairobi, Kenya.
Specifically, IPfest 2014 aims to:
• Establish interest and support for puppetry and folk media as a cultural a medium for social change in Kenya and Africa.
• Encourage creativity and improve puppet theatre skills by exposing African puppeteers and audiences to professional puppet theatre techniques of international standards.
• Establish puppetry exchange and support networks.
• Initiate the process of unifying and/or entrenching UNIMA Africa as deliberated by all UNIMA Africa chapter members during the UNIMA International Congress and World Puppet Festival in Perth, Australia in 2007.
The festival will feature diverse presentations through workshops, round table discussions, exhibitions and puppetry performances by teams drawn from various parts of the world. Over twenty puppet theatre companies drawn from Asia, Europe, South America, North Africa and Africa are expected to participate in the festival.
The organiser of IPfest 2014 has planned a series of pre and post festival activities.
