What is TWB?

Theatre Without Borders is a completely volunteer-based organization that aims to build theatre bridges between the U.S. and the rest of the world. While TWB-founding members are involved in some specific projects, TWB membership includes all of us that sign up on the TWB website.

What does the TWB website do?

The TWB website does two major things:

• Publishes information and resources (based on submissions by TWB founding members) about theatre collaborations and opportunities around the world.
• Allows users to volunteer to be a theatre contact for their region or country - and thus provides a way for others to find theatre contacts around the world.

Does TWB fund any projects?

NO. TWB is an all volunteer organization that does not have any money, nor does it fund any projects. TWB is not a source of funds, fundraising help, nor project or individual help. This site exists as a resource in general, with the hope that people who register on the site can help each other make contacts. The goal is for TWB to help people find each other by using the resources on the website.

How can TWB help me?

By providing international theatre resources, TWB serves as a place for you to find other international theatre contacts and as a place for you to offer your help to others.

Who is behind TWB?

The folks mentioned here are considered the founding members.

Is TWB a nonprofit organization? What is TWB's legal status? Where is it based?

TWB is not a any sort of formal organization, and has no actual organizational structure. It is an entirely volunteer-based, international and virtual entity. Read more in our disclaimer.

How can I contact TWB?

Use our contact page - and select which topic you are interested in. Depending on the topic, the email will go to different people.

How can I help TWB?

Register on the site and then fill out your profile. The more people who are not only registered, but also have profile information, the more useful this site will be.

How do I participate in TWB?

• You can come to the TWB website to look for international theatre resources (this is a good place to start).
• You can look for theatre contacts around the world.
• You can register on the site, and then list yourself as a theatre contact.

If I register on the site, what happens?

Nothing happens automatically. You don't even receive emails from TWB. However, you can encourage things to happen:

• If you modify your notification settings, you will receive a digest email with all the recent site updates, including new user registrations.
• The more information you add to your profile, the more likely someone may contact you.

Is the TWB site private? If I register, will people see my email address or name?

Yes, the TWB site is private. You will not even receive TWB emails unless you change your notification settings.

No one will see your email address. People may contact you using a contact form, which will go to the email address you used to register - but no one will see this address.

The name you use to register will show up on the user lists and new registration notices for those who elect to receive notifications. Note that there is no requirement to make this user name your real name, or in any way identifiable with you.

What do I have to do if I volunteer to be a international theatre contact?

Nothing - you don't have to do anything. However, by signing up and filling in your profile, you are indicating that you would be willing to answer questions and pass on local contacts and resources for your area - whether that is specifically where you live, or another region or country where you have contacts.

In any case, you are never required to respond to anyone's email asking for information or help.

How do I add information to my user profile?

How do I find people?

Go to the International Contacts search page. Here you can select to search for people by different profile fields (unfortunately, the system does not allow searching across multiple fields). However, these searches are based on what people have put in their profile. If someone lives in Kenya, this information will only show up if that person actually fills in their profile indicating Kenya is a country they can provide information for. Conversely, some people list several countries in their profile - this only means that they can help with information and contacts in several places.

Who are these people?

These are people who are involved in theatre, and are offering to be information sources for their respective countries or regions. They may be long-time theatre professionals or new young talent, or someone who has an interest and theatre and wants to be a contact for their region.

As stated in our disclaimer, "All information provided on the TWB website is provided for information purposes only. Registering as a Country Contact, US Contact or Translator Contact does not constitute a legal contract between TWB and any person or entity. Although every reasonable effort is made to present current and accurate information, TWB makes no guarantees of any kind."

How will people find me?

People will find you the same way you find people - by looking at the International Contact search page.

Note: No one will find you if you have not registered on the site. In addition, no one will know any information about you unless you fill in your profile info.

How can I get notifications of new TWB website content?

• Log in to your registered account.
• If you are already logged in, click on "My Account" on the top menu bar.
• Click on the "My notification settings" tab

You have several choices - there is the first "Master" switch, whether you want notifications On or Off.
Then you can select whether you want to receive notifications that show the entirety of the new content, or just the title, or just a "teaser" (excerpt").

Note: This site does not allow comments, so "Notify new comments" will not work, regardless of your settings.
